Dr Shihan de Silva Jayasuriya is a Research Associate of King’s College, University of London and a Fellow of the Royal Asiatic Society of Great Britain and Ireland. She has a Ph.D. in linguistics (Westminster), and two degrees from the University of London: an M.Sc. in finance and a B.Sc. Honours in economics. She is the author of three books: Tagus to Taprobane, An anthology of Indo-Portuguese verse and Indo-Portuguese of Ceylon. She co-edited (with Professor Richard Pankhurst) The African diaspora in the Indian Ocean. She is the Coordinator of the African diaspora in Asia, a project associated with the UNESCO slave route project.
